The Museum of the History of World Cultures and Religions is located in the historical part of Derbent, one of the most ancient cities in Russia.
Expositions
The permanent exhibition of the museum consists of sections dedicated to pagan, Buddhist, Jewish, Russian-Orthodox, Armenian-Gregorian and Islamic cultures. A special place in the museum since its opening is occupied by exhibition activities. The specially created exhibition hall hosts thematic and specialized exhibitions from the museum's collections, exhibitions of fine and photographic art, exchange and traveling projects from museums and private collections of the republic, the country and from abroad.
The permanent exhibition of the museum includes artifacts that represent the religious preferences and life of the peoples of the Caucasus and, in particular, Dagestan. These are objects of fine and applied art, exhibits related to religious rites, and archaeological finds. The museum's exposition consists of sections dedicated to pagan, Buddhist, Jewish, Russian-Orthodox, Armenian-Gregorian and Islamic cultures.
History
Derbent is a crossroads of civilizations, a mirror of the unity and diversity of cultural and confessional traditions of countries and peoples of the world. That is why in this ancient city in 2014, a new museum for the region was opened – the "Museum of the History of World Cultures and Religions".
