The Museum consists of several exhibition halls dedicated to cosmonautics that tell visitors about: the history of the creation and launch of the Svobodny Cosmodrome, a brief history of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the history of the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, and the history of the Kapustin Yar Military Training Area.
A separate reference room gives information about companies working in the space industry, as well as pioneers of the space age.

History

The Vostochny Cosmodrome has become one of Russia’s most ambitious projects of the 21st century. Construction of a cosmodrome, especially in the natural conditions of the Amur region, is an extremely complex task of engineering. The distance from Vostochny to Moscow is almost 8,000 kilometers. Blagoveshchensk is as far as 180 km away.
The Vostochny Cosmodrome Museum was opened in 2014 as part of the Museum of the 27th Red Banner Rocket Division.

Interesting Facts

One of the interesting exhibits in the Museum of the Vostochny Cosmodrome on the territory of the UIA Cultural and Leisure Center "Vostok" BUT Tsiolkovsky is the original spacesuit of Gennady Padalka, the most experienced cosmonaut, who made 6 flights to the Mir station and the ISS with a total duration of 878 days.

In the museum, you can try space food in classic tin tubes.

In the center of the city of Tsiolkovsky there is a monument to the heroes who died during the Great Patriotic War. Another notable monument is the bust of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in a space helmet. There is also a capsule of the Soyuz TMA-07M manned spacecraft, on which cosmonaut Roman Romanenko and American astronauts Thomas Marshburn and Chris Hadfield landed.

In the city of Tsiolkovsky, there used to be a military spaceport Svobodny, from which heavy-class rockets were launched. You can get to Naukograd by bus in 3-4 hours (the distance from Blagoveshchensk to the Vostochny cosmodrome is 180 km). To visit it, you will need to pass passport control.

Excursions are organized to the Vostochny cosmodrome, so anyone can see how the space harbor is arranged. At the same time, you can plan a trip to the launch of the rocket: during the launches, observation decks are organized. One of them was equipped on the top of a hill in the Iversky reserve, 20 km from the cosmodrome.

Tourists can see the flight of the spacecraft, as well as visit the technical complex of the cosmodrome and the science city of Tsiolkovsky
