A. I. Solzhenitsyn Apartment Museum

The golden domed capital of Russia - Moscow - keeps the stories of the broken lives of thousands of its children. One such striking example is the life of the Nobel Prize winner in literature Alexander Solzhenitsyn. He went through the Great Patriotic War, but was sentenced to eight long years in forced labor camps for anti-Stalinist criticism in personal letters. In 1974, he was completely deprived of USSR citizenship, and then expelled from the country.
In memory of the life and work of the writer, in 2018 on Tverskaya Street, a museum was opened in the former apartment of A.I. Solzhenitsyn. The museum is located in two premises of a residential building: apartment No. 169 displays museum exhibits and recreates the atmosphere of the Soviet era; apartment No. 173 has "sheltered" the offices of employees, a library and a lecture hall. There are six permanent exhibitions: "Kitchen", "Photolaboratory", "Arrest", "Work on the 'Red Wheel' " , "Nobeliana", "Study of A.I. Solzhenitsyn of the 1990s". In addition to archival photographs, personal belongings of the writer, furniture, and dishes, the manuscript of "The Gulag Archipelago" is kept here.
