In the Finno-Ugric ethno-cultural Park of the Komi Republic on may 1, 2017, the "Museum of oil art" was opened. So far, it is the first and only one in the world. The art of oil painting attracts more and more attention from visitors every year. Some artists believe that oil is the future of fine art. After all, paints are chemicals, and oil is a natural material. In addition, it lies down in a special way, dries in a special way. Oil is textured, has a special glow. Industrial raw materials open up to the General public from a new angle – as a source of inspiration for artists and material for "nephtism" - a new trend in art.
The exhibition has already been visited by paintings by honored artist of Russia Vitaly Kasatkin (St. Petersburg), member of the professional Union of artists of Russia Lyubov Makovskaya (Tyumen), artist, designer in the field of architecture and three-dimensional modeling Stepan Kubik (Syktyvkar), honored artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan, member of the Union of artists of Russia Rinat Minnebaev (Ufa).
Each artist works in their own unique technique. For example, Lyubov Makovskaya found the perfect formula, thanks to which you can create both a thin translucent layer and voluminous thick strokes of oil, which gives more opportunities for the implementation of creative ideas.
Currently, the Museum presents works by Vitaly Kasatkin: restrained, subtle Russian landscapes, urban scenes, still lifes, etc.
The Finno-Ugric ethnopark actively promotes the Chutsky oil Museum as a place where you can see the ecological and aesthetic use of oil, as well as learn about the history and specifics of oil production in the Komi Republic, and, of course, about the city of Ukhta – the birthplace of the first Russian oil. While in the Museum, guests are happy to taste the smell of oil brought from different regions, observe the different color and consistency.
The collection of the Chutsky oil Museum is replenished not only with paintings by professional artists, but also with "folk exhibits" created at the school of oil painting, as well as during master classes and interactive programs.The Museum actively cooperates with grant-giving organizations.
In 2018, the project "Oil and its eco-friendly use: visiting exhibitions of the world's first oil art Museum" became the winner Of the contest of social projects of PJSC "LUKOIL "in the category"Ecology". Within the framework of the project, several municipalities of the region held exhibitions and presentations of "Chutsky oil", which prompted the interest of residents of the Komi Republic in modern non-traditional forms of using "black gold". In February 2020, according to the results of implementation, this project was recognized as the best and awarded the honorary statuette "Ruby Fox" (the symbol of the competition).
In 2020, PJSC LUKOIL supported the following project with the participation of the Museum: the project "Visiting school of oil painting", the purpose of which is to develop the cognitive and educational activity of residents of Usinsk as one of the centers of oil production and processing. The project will take place in March 2021. It is planned to conduct open environmental lessons using oil as an unconventional material for art. There will be applied master classes, film clubs with unique films of comics and video Rental, quiz games using multimedia, presentations of environmental projects, as well as meetings with the artist Vitaly Kasatkin and his new works of the exhibition "Oil of Russia".
The exhibits of the oil painting Museum are in demand at various exhibition venues in Russian cities.
In February 2020, the Museum's exhibition was held in Paris (France) as part of the international cultural project "Russian seasons".

The world's first oil art Museum "Chutsky oil" opened in the Finno-Ugric ethno-cultural Park in the year of Ecology on may 1, 2017. Why "Chutsky oil"? It is under this name that Ukhta oil was first mentioned in the XV century in the Dvina chronicle. Travelers described how the chut tribes living on the banks of the Ukhta collected "combustible water" or "chut oil" (earth oil) from the surface of the river and used it for medical purposes and as lubricants. The exhibition features works by professional artists who use oil, oil waste and gas condensate as materials for painting and decorating paintings. Also, visitors to the Museum can get acquainted with methodological materials, as well as samples of oil from different regions, different in color, consistency and other characteristics.
