Siberia is a real storehouse of Russia a unique territory with a huge cultural and ethnic diversity. Nowdays it is proved definitely that in Siberia there was a special kind of people the "Denisov man", Siberia was the birthplace of numerous nomadic peoples, including the Scythians. With the arrival of Russian-speaking peoples, there was a mixture and mutual penetration of cultures.

Many famous talented people writers, artists, sculptors, actors and filmmakers were born in Siberia. Today, the Siberian Federal district can be considered not only an important economic, but also a cultural and tourist center of the country. A special role in this was played by hundreds of original, unique museums located in the Siberian regions, whose exhibits preserve the "flow of time", each historical object or event hides an entire epoch a past life with its own lessons and knowledge.

Museums offer you the opportunity to see a completely different world. Modern technologies only help them in this, turning them into multicultural platforms that play an important role in public life.

All-Russian memorial Museum-reserve of V. M. Shukshin

The village of Srostki is the birthplace of the famous writer, actor and film creator Vasily Makarovich Shukshin. The all-Russian festival "Shukshin days in Altai" is held in Srostki, and a monument to Shukshin is installed on mount Piket, which offers a panoramic view of the village.
The Museum-reserve is presented by three buildings with manors. The first is a small log house where Vasily Makarovich spent his childhood. The second building is the school where Shukshin studied and then worked. The exhibition, located in four halls and a memorial classroom, reveals the artistic world of Shukshin: letters, posters, photographs, household items. The third building is the house that Shukshin bought for his mother. The house has three rooms and a summer lounge, on the territory – a Russian bathhouse with a summer kitchen, a shed, a garden. The exhibition is based on authentic items that belonged to the family.

Novosibirsk is the third most populous city in Russia and the largest in Siberia. Just a 35-minute drive from the metropolis, in the village of Voskhod, there is a Museum of world funeral culture which is located on the territory of the existing crematorium of the Park of Memory.
It has more than one million exhibits in its collections. The Museum presents mourning outfits, postcards related to the theme of death. Special attention should be paid to expositions with old engravings by domestic and foreign authors, which depict the funerals of famous people, funeral rites or funeral ceremonies.
Also in the Museum you can see carts, carriages, hearses from different countries of the world, copies of coffins of historical figures, dresses, cemetery architecture, household items, books, death masks, funeral urns and many others.

Kemerovo is the coal capital of Kuzbass and Russia. But the region is not only famous for this. Not far from the city in the ancient village of Pisanaya is the Kuzbass Museum-reserve "Tomskaya Pisanitsa". The first part of the name of the cultural object came from the Tom river flowing nearby, the second from a group of ancient rock paintings discovered at the turn of the XVI-XVII centuries.
The Museum-reserve "Tomskaya Pisanitsa" is a multidisciplinary one. Due to the combination of natural, historical and cultural sightseeings, it is classified as a new type of Museum complex. Museum visitors can view 9 permanent exhibitions, which are based on more than 280 ancient petroglyphs dating back to the bronze age. Guests are also introduced to local folklore and ethnographic features of the Kemerovo region. The Museum mini-zoo is very popular.

Khakassia is a region with a unique culture and ancient history. In the South-West of the Republic, 130 km from Abakan, the national Museum-reserve is formed. The area of the cultural object exceeds 18 hectares. A settlement with yurts has been reconstructed on the picturesque historical site, household items and tools of the Khakass people that were used many centuries ago have been placed there too.
Museum visitors have the opportunity to learn about the history of Khakassia, ancient rituals and traditions of the Khakas. Also on the territory of the Museum-reserve, surrounded by mountain and river landscapes, ancient petroglyphs, mounds and menhirs are available for viewing. The earliest archaeological sites are more than 5,000 years old. Among the Khakass population, the most revered Museum attractions are the rock Rime-tas and the white stone Akh-tas, which is attributed to miraculous properties.

At the confluence of the Irtysh and Omi rivers is situated one of the largest Russian megacities Omsk, a city with great cultural traditions. An art gallery was opened in Omsk in 1924 and received the name of the Omsk regional Museum of fine arts named after M. A. Vrubel.
The Museum's storages located in three city historical buildings contain more than 27,000 exhibits: paintings by famous artists from around the world, sculptures, prints, graphics, unique furniture and tableware, precious metals and stones. The Museum's funds were replenished with works of art from the largest state collections in Russia.
The Museum has several permanent exhibitions built on a thematic and chronological basis: Russian iconography and painting, Western European art and a collection of decorative and applied art of Russian peoples.

Krasnoyarsk is not only an ancient Siberian city located on the banks of the Yenisei river, but also an important economic and cultural center of Eastern Siberia. In 1889, the regional Museum of local lore was founded in Krasnoyarsk. Its area is 3.5 thousand square meters and the funds contain more than 700 thousand exhibits: collections of artifacts of Church art, written documents, weapons and books. The Museum contains autographs of Napoleon Bonaparte and Grigory Rasputin. Permanent archaeological, paleontological, artistic, and ethnographic expositions are presented. Some of the exhibits are displayed during virtual tours.
The Krasnoyarsk Museum of local lore has several branches: the literary Museum, the Museum-estate of G. V. Yudin, the memorial house Museum of V. P. Astafiev, the Steamer Museum "Saint Nicholas", the natural science Department.

Museum-reserve "Shushenskoe"

The small village of Shushenskoe, located almost 500 km from the capital of the Krasnoyarsk territory, became famous after the exile of Vladimir Lenin. In Shushenskoye in Soviet times the eponymous Museum-reserve was created. Museum expositions were organized in two houses where Lenin lived. The historical situation were preserved in these houses. Also on the territory of the Museum the Central part of the village of the late XIX early XX century was reconstructed. In addition there is located the architectural and ethnographic complex "New village" with houses built in the style of wooden architecture of the Yenisei province of the late XIX century. The exhibition includes 29 houses, most of which are authentic.
Visitors get acquainted with the architecture, lifestyle of the local population and household items. Among the exhibits are rare icons, toys, books, peasant furniture, paintings and dishes. In the "New village" you can rent an old house.

Irkutsk regional historical and memorial Museum of the Decembrists

On the banks of the Angara river stands one of the oldest cities in Siberia Irkutsk, which became home to former convicts who participated in the uprising on the Senate square. In its historical center there is a Museum dedicated to the activities of the Decembrists. The Museum displays are located in two historical estates where Sergey Trubetskoy and Sergey Volkonsky lived.
The collection was first formed in 1925 in the Irkutsk Museum of the revolution. In 2000, the Decembrist Museum received an independent status. The Museum presents recreated interiors of houses, authentic items that belonged to the Decembrist families, beaded collections, and home theater. The Central exhibit is a pyramid piano by Maria Volkonskaya. On the basement floor of the Trubetskoy House, you can track the Decembrists' journey from St. Petersburg to Siberia, see shackles and an imitation of a prison cell.
